What is flag of rio?

The flag of Rio de Janeiro is a rectangular flag with a white background and a red cross in the center. The cross represents the Catholic tradition of the city, as well as the initial letters of the state's name, R and J. In each of the four corners of the white field is a blue 5-pointed star, with a golden border. These stars symbolize some important historical events, such as the coronation of Emperor Dom Pedro I and the proclamation of the Republic of Brazil. The flag was adopted on October 27, 1965.
